How does it feel to live in Hollywood? (Like a normal person, not a celebrity or something.)?

I ask because I'm thinking of the time move there for the sake of improving a possible acting career. Is it dangerous? Are there good and bad areas? Please, whatever you can, if I actually lived there.

You do not want to live in Hollywood. That's where you work, not where you live. For various reasons, we have lots of questions what is in Los Angeles in order to move here. First, I'll tell you what is NOT like: It's not like anything on TV. People watch shows on television and I think that's what it's like here. The Real "OC", Newport Beach, The Hills, etc. Ever wonder why people in these programs do not have to pay bills, laundry, and never get caught in traffic? Because it is false. And the news does not help either, because they know that sex and sensationalism sells. News Flash: There are running gun battles in the street. There are no every day shooting. On the other hand, see celebrities just walking down the street, all glamor, or sipping a cappuccino at Starbucks waiting to sign autographs. Do not go surfing during lunch hour. Some parts of LA are very nice, others are "ghetto." Too many people have this vision in his head that Los Angeles is one or the other (or Beverly Hills or Compton). In fact, most of the working class and middle class working stiffs to pay the bills. You need a car to live in Southern California. LA does not have an effective public transportation like New York or San Francisco. One reason is that Los Angeles is larger in area that any of them, without a central axis where everything is. In the 1960's, we could have done. But for now local governments have their act together, was much more difficult to make a working system of public transport. Moreover, unlike New York, we have earthquakes, which makes it a little more difficult to build underground. The freeway traffic in Los Angeles is probably the worst thing about living here. The 405 is the worst. Do you know why they call it the 405? Because we go 4 or '5 miles per hour and takes 4 o '5 hours to get where you're going. Highway traffic is bad 6-10 am and 3-7 pm evil. I do not know why they call it rush hour. It is more than an hour and no running, that's for sure. The gangs in Los Angeles are the cause of many rumors. Note that there are bands in any big city, in every part of the country. In Los Angeles gangs are not really the center, are in South Los Angeles, East Los Angeles, and north of Long Beach (an extension of the South LA gangs, actually). And here's the deal: Mostly, just kill each other. Gas is expensive in California. It is 20 to 30 cents above the national average. Yes, gas and Real estate is very expensive in Southern California. However, this would be the best time to buy a house because it is a right buyer in the market now. There are a lot foreclosures, and too many homes on the market. So if you have money, is a good time to buy. Unfortunately, most of us do not have half million on the ground. Maybe Paris Hilton (regular poster here)? Yes, the freeways are a drag, is smog in summer, and expensive to live here. However, if it is so bad, why do we have thousands and thousands of people moving here? Activities Weather Plenty of jobs Weather Beaches, mountains, deserts all Within minutes by car from time! Here is my final point in time. In the colder parts of the country, people keep their cars in their garages all winter. Kids get snow toys for Christmas. Here, children have bicycles, scooters and skateboards. 10 a.m. on Christmas morning, the streets are full of children in their new bicycles, motorcycles, etc. We have a Costco game system in the backyard. I installed a light in the courtyard and played in smaller (sometimes with friends) at night during the "winter", task time and dinner was done until bedtime. You can not do that in the snow. The job market is good here, on especially since there are many people here that creates its own labor market. So many industries, including tourism, entertainment, transportation, manufacturing, etc. It is an economy incredible. However, LA is not for everyone. Every time someone this question, you get the haters to Los Angeles after his bile and venom. Many do not know what they are talking. Perhaps he had cousin Ernie visit once, and was disappointed when he came to lead Hollywood and discovered that they were not quite at the TV. Of course, told all his relatives, and are now experts in Los Angeles. Some of them are people who actually visited once, and discovered that it was like it was on TV and certainly was not Mayberry. And some actually lived here, and could not cope with the expense, traffic, or the rather impersonal nature of life in a large metropolis. (You know, the kind who like to visit their neighbors unannounced, open the door (open), and left in Well, not like here, for better or for worse. For those who they say "good luck" wherever you are, but please do not shed their poison in this forum. In short, a great metropolis. I live in one of the suburbs nice, but the journey is not fun, often 1-2 hours each way every day. However, 340 + days of sunshine really helps. Yes, it is expensive. Ms. Obviousman and I have to work to pay the mortgage. But it's worth? Of course!
